I forgot the most important one!
#1 - Start a rock band!
Can't possibly do this on my own:(
I feel torn.
Really. When I am on a writing kick, I totally forget about my desire to sing, and when I am on a singing kick... well it isn't that I stop wanting to write, but the feedback on music is so much more immediate...
As Joni Mitchell says, "no one ever said to Vincent... hey, man, paint that Starry Night again..." And people very rarely read you twice, but somehow they never get tired of hearing you sing the same song, again and again. Plus, it feels nice to have people fawning all over you and revelling in your "angelic" voice. No one feels the need to reach out and fondle you after a great story, but when you step off stage, for some reason, people feel the need to embrace you, kiss your cheeks, squeeze your shoulders, beaming in the glow.
I forgot how nice that feels. Feedback is a wonderful thing. And positive feedback, even better. I think I need to change professions. Oh wait. I don't have a profession.
