I love women!

No. No wild orgies or dionesian feats tonight. Just genuine good company and good red wine and good conversation. I had forgotten how wonderful it is to be in a gender segregated environment. For a little while anyway. The Irish Italian professor prepared a large pot of pasta with vodka cream sauce, crimini, and walnuts, and the Art "lover" a fabulous salad with beets and goat cheese. The American girls supplied various bottles of wine and a lemon rasberry tart from Trader Joe's, and the Sevillana, an almond raspberry cake.

What girls really do when alone: Talk, and talk and talk and laugh until our sides hurt and the tears spring from our eyes. Drink excessively, eat to our hearts content, and then add Bailey's to our coffee as we eat too much dessert. There is something so perfect in sisterhood, we speak freely, we understand _exactly_ what the others mean, we give honest and loving opinions for real-life problems, we commiserate, and then we tell really racy stories and compare notes on lovers of the past.

We were having so much fun that we never ended up getting up from the table or going out. It was better that way. No uninvited eyes stealing pleasure, just us basking in the beauty of the moment, enclosed in the Zen-like space, wooden floors bouncing the warm light back onto our faces. Girls, ahem... women, together and appreciating one another, learning new things, making plans...

I knew that there was a reason that I once attended a women's college, and it was more of the same. It is perhaps comparable to the idea that life-long partnership is much easier with someone from your own country, someone who needs no explanation of the basic and unchangeable landscape of your life. I wouldn't know about that, of course. Ruben Darío makes a very interesting point, saying "Mi esposa es de mi tierra, y mi querida de París" What, then, can we learn from this? That all women should really "marry" other women and only have male lovers on the side... Hmmm. I may have just uncovered the key to eternal bliss or world peace, or perhaps I just had too much red wine.

Well, thanks to all my seductive sisters in crime and to all the boys whose ears must have been burning. I am now off to bed:)
